Why a tool like Vizia is so important?
So you might be wondering why we decided to devote an entire Thursday post to showing you how to use a new tool.... It comes down to 4 big reasons.
1. People love and engage with video
Video content is on the rise. From Snapchat to GIFs, Facebook Video and Periscope it's clear that people want video.
According to Hubspot, "65% of senior marketing executives believe that visual assets (photos, video, illustrations and infographics) are core to how their brand story is communicated" and over 50% of marketers say video content has the highest ROI.
I personally agree. I've found that video content is faster to create than most blog posts and sees higher engagement. Our blog posts on creating DIY Videos, setting up your at home studio and editing your videos are some of our most popular.
Get this, by 2017, video will account for 69% of all consumer internet traffic, according to Cisco. Video-on-demand traffic alone will have almost tripled. By using Vizia, you have a chance to get ahead of the curve and not only create video, but INTERACTIVE video.
Delight viewers by doing something brand new that they haven't seen before.
2. Interactive video helps with student retention
Our brains not only process visuals faster, but they retain and transmit much more information when it’s delivered visually - all the things a good course creator wants to do.
"Research shows that when video and multimedia are implemented in schools, students are more engaged, teacher performance improves and student-teacher interaction is greater...Since some students are visual learners while others are auditory learners, multimedia enables them to learn in the way they are most comfortable. It also promotes collaboration through blogs, discussion boards and social networks," says HowToLearn.
By asking questions after key points you bring attention to important information, this is critical to student learning. You also see the results of these questions and know which questions student are getting right and wrong and can adapt your course to solve confusion points where previously you may have not had insight.
3. Beat your competition
Because Teachable isn't a marketplace, our instructors are truly the most competitive in the elearning industry, which is why we wanted to build something for them that would take their video courses to a new level.
Generally an online course is synonymous with video course, but as far as I've seen there isn't a course with interactive video. I'd bargain to say that in using and integrating Vizia's you're one step ahead of the competition.
Videos are active, not passive, ensure student retention for better results and are simply more fun.
4. Create banging lead magnets, quickly & for free
According to The Guardian, “Nielsen claims that 64% of marketers expect video to dominate their strategies in the near future.” From Forbes.com, “People prefer video over white papers, case studies, even live demos with reps.”
"According to the Online Publishers Association, [80%] of Internet users who recall watching a video ad on a website they visited in the past 30 days. It gets even better. Of that 80%, 46% took some action after viewing the ad. In fact:
- 26% looked for more information about the subject of the video
- 22% visited the website named in the ad
- 15% visited the company represented in the video ad
- 12% purchased the specific product featured in the ad"
WOAH! If you're trying to create a lead magnet that people remember and act on, video is it. And as I said earlier, I also find it quicker to create.
With Vizia, take a video from your course (or a new one you've created) add interactions and promote it in online communities.
Vizias are easily embeded into blogs, sales pages, or other squeeze pages. You can also create a promo video that lives on your course's sales page:
This is important because:
"Landing pages with video lead to 800% more conversion (FunnelScience). In fact, 88% of visitors stay longer on a site with prominent video displayed (MistMedia). Those that stay longer spend an average of 120 seconds more on a retail site and are 64% more likely to purchase after viewing a single product video (comScore)" says SingleGrain.
Tips for Creating Video
A few tips on video, remember to engage and attract your audience in 10 seconds. Desktop viewers will watch videos for 2 minutes and mobile viewers for 5. Keep that in mind as you figure our the length of your content.
Within our course, we at Teachable suggest keeping your lecture videos to less than 15 minutes and preferably under 1o.
